What We Collect

We collect the following information to provide our workout tracking service:

Account Information

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile picture (if provided)
  • Sign-in provider (Apple, Google, or email)

User Preferences

  • Weight and distance unit preferences
  • Fitness goals
  • Experience level
  • AI assistant writing style preferences (verbosity, tone)

Workout Data

  • Exercises performed
  • Sets, reps, and weights
  • RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) ratings
  • Personal records
  • Cardio entries (duration, distance, heart rate)
  • Workout notes

Conversation Data

  • Chat messages with the AI assistant
  • Workout logging requests and responses

Subscription Data

  • Subscription status and plan type
  • App Store transaction identifiers

Technical Data

  • IP address
  • Device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID, device ID)
  • Browser, operating system, and network information

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Provide and improve the Fitney service
  • Track your workout history and progress
  • Generate personalized insights and suggestions through AI
  • Process and verify your subscription
  • Send important updates about your account
  • Analyse usage patterns to improve the app

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Fitney:

Firebase (Google)

Used for user authentication and token verification. Firebase Privacy Policy

Anthropic Claude

Your conversations with the AI assistant are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to provide intelligent workout tracking and suggestions. Anthropic Privacy Policy

Apple App Store

Subscription purchases are processed through Apple. We verify subscriptions via the App Store Server API. Apple Privacy Policy

Google Cloud Platform

Your data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform in Berlin, EU. Google Cloud Privacy

PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. PostHog Privacy Policy

Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Your data is retained while your account is active.
  • Inactive accounts: Data is deleted 2 years after your last activity.
  • Account deletion: Upon request, we immediately remove your personal data.

International Data Transfers

Your data is primarily stored in Berlin, EU on Google Cloud Platform. However, data may be transferred to the United States when processed by Anthropic for AI features.

For transfers outside the EU/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission as the legal basis.

GDPR Rights (EU/UK Users)

We process your data under the following legal bases: consent, performance of our contract with you, and legitimate business interests.

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests

  • Opt-out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell your data)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy

Fitney is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected data from a user under 16, we will delete that information promptly.

Cookies and Analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics. This collects information such as:

  • Page views and feature usage
  • Device type and browser information
  • Session duration

You can opt out of analytics tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings or by contacting us.

Data Security
